The HYlab Ball takes a completely different approach to wireless tattoo-machine design. Instead of the conventional elongated pen format, HYlab has built the drive system, battery and controls into a compact 60 mm spherical body, keeping the machine short and the working mass close to the artist's hand.

Inside the Ball is a direct-drive external-rotor brushless motor paired with a fixed 4.0 mm stroke. The machine provides two independent operating modes, allowing the artist to work using conventional voltage control or direct frequency adjustment.

Compact Spherical Design

The 60 mm spherical body changes the physical layout of the machine considerably. There is no long battery section extending behind the artist's hand. The compact form places the motor, battery and electronic control system around the central body while keeping the cartridge connection close to the machine.

The complete machine weighs approximately 161 g, giving the HYlab Ball a compact working profile despite its unconventional shape.

Two Operating Modes

The HYlab Ball provides two selectable operating modes through its integrated electronic control system.

• M1 Voltage Mode: conventional voltage adjustment from 4V to 12V.
• M2 Frequency Mode: direct frequency adjustment from 6Hz to 150Hz.

This gives the artist the choice of controlling the machine through the familiar voltage-based method or setting the operating frequency directly, depending on working preference and technique.

Direct-Drive Brushless Motor

The Ball uses an external-rotor brushless motor with a direct-drive configuration. The motor is rated at 9000 rpm at 12V and drives a fixed 4.0 mm stroke.

The direct-drive layout keeps the mechanical system simple while the brushless motor eliminates the brushes found in conventional brushed DC motors.

Fixed 4.0mm Stroke

The HYlab Ball uses a fixed 4.0 mm stroke. There is no stroke-selection mechanism to configure before use. The 4.0 mm geometry provides a versatile general-purpose stroke suitable for artists who prefer a medium-to-long fixed stroke platform.

Integrated Colour Display

An integrated colour screen provides the machine's operating information directly on the body. The controls are positioned alongside the display for adjustment of the selected operating mode and output.

A built-in 1200mAh rechargeable battery powers the machine without an external tattoo power supply or clip cord during normal wireless operation.

The compact battery system is integrated into the spherical housing rather than extending from the rear of the machine as found on many conventional wireless pen machines.
