Gloves, Masks and PPE

Personal Protective Equipment, is an essential aspect of the tattoo industry. Tattoo artists must protect themselves and their clients from potential hazards such as blood-borne pathogens, cross-contamination, and other infections that can arise during the tattooing process. PPE in the tattoo industry typically includes disposable gloves, face masks, eye protection, aprons or lab coats.

Disposable gloves are worn by tattoo artists to prevent the spread of germs and bacteria, and to protect both the artist and the client from cross-contamination. Gloves should be changed between clients and any time they are contaminated with blood or bodily fluids.

Face masks and eye protection are also used to prevent the spread of germs and bacteria, particularly during the tattooing process. Tattoo artists should wear masks to cover their nose and mouth, and eye protection to shield their eyes from splatters of blood or other bodily fluids.

Aprons are worn to protect clothing from being contaminated with blood or ink. They should be made of a fluid-resistant material and disposed of after each use.
